- American Statistical
Association. ASA is a scientific and educational
society founded in 1839 to foster excellence in the use
and application of statistics to the biological,
physical, social and economic sciences.
- Centers for Disease Control.
The CDC is an agency of the Department of Health and
Human Services. Its mission is to promote health and
quality of life by preventing and controlling disease,
injury, and disability. The CDC web site one of the best
sites for data on a variety of health related issues.
- Chance
Database. Developed by J. Laurie Snell, this is a web
site of materials for teaching a Chance course, that is,
a statistics course based on quantitative literacy and
case studies.
- Chance
Magazine. A magazine about statistics and its use in
society that is published jointly by the American
Statistical Association and Springer-Verlag New York,
Inc.
- Data and Story
Library. DASL is an online library of data files and
stories that illustrate the use of basic statistics
methods. DASL includes a powerful search engine to locate
the story or data file of interest.
- Experimental
Interactive Statistics Pages. This project consists
of a collection of interactive statistics modules on the
web, developed by John Marden at the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaigne.
- Geophysical
Statistics Project. GSP is a project to encourage the
application and further development of statistical
analysis to the problems faced in the Earth sciences.
- Globally
Accessible Statistical Procedures. This is a project
designed to make statistical routines easily available
via the web. The site includes working data analysis and
research procedures and interactive, instructional Java
applets.
- Guide
to Statistical Computing Resources on the Internet.
Based at the University of Michigan, this site is
designed to be a central location for finding Internet
resources for statistical computing.
- History
of Mathematics. Based at St. Andrews University,
Scotland, this is the definitive site for the history of
mathematics.
- Institute of
Mathematical Statistics. IMS fosters the development
and dissemination of the theory and applications of
statistics and probability.
- InterStat.
This is a completely electronic journal devoted to
statistical research and innovative methods. The articles
are in Portable Document Format (. pdf) and/or in
Postscript (.ps) format.
- Journal
of Statistics Education. This is a refereed
electronic journal on post-secondary teaching of
statistics.
- MA
3720. This site was developed by Carl Spruill for a
course at Georgia Tech, and contains a wonderful mix of
Java applets, Maple worksheets, and data sets in
spreadsheet form.

interactive modules in probability and statistics from

Web. Maintained by Phil Pollet, this site is an

Department, this is a system for distributing statistical

statistics textbook on the web from UCLA.

The official source for social, demographic, and economic
information.

Library. A list of resources for random number
