Abstract. The behaviour of a hollow damaging tube under pressure is discussed in the paper. A model, proposed by one of the authors of anisotropic brittle damage coupled with elastic deformation, is employed. The model represents a natural development of Eringen and Suhubi's micromorphic theory [1] provided the microdistortion tensor of the latter is identified with that resulting from microcracking. A closed form solution of the problem is obtained using Laplace transform with respect to time.
